Flight Training

Stellenbosch airfield is located just outside the control zone of Cape Town International Airport, which is a major advantage of flying training at STELLENBOSCH, in that our pupils get into the air and "fly" more than pupils who are at training centres located inside the control of major airports. From engine start-up [when the money clock starts ticking] our pupils are able to get aloft and operate in un-cluttered sky's, without being subjected to the delays instructed by Air Traffic Control in order to give precedence to commercial flights to taxi past you, or take-off ahead of you.

However, as a student of Stellenbosch Flying Club, you will be exposed to major airport interaction when your instructor decides you are ready for it. We are literally five minutes flying time away from the controlled area of Cape Town International Airport. Whilst doing your training you will do this flight several times and achieve the same skill level as the student who trained from a base in that environment, but in a more structured and relaxed approach, and in less time.

INTRODUCTORY FLIGHT
If you are unsure of small aircraft and your ability to accept flying in one, then contact us and book an Introductory Flight with one of our instructors. Your instructor will then spend an hour or so with you going over one of our aircraft, and then take you to the skies where you will be able to handle the controls and get the feeling of this exciting way of life.
